Barbara Nelson

Barbara Jean (Jorgenson) Nelson, 43, of Gothenburg, NE, passed away December 30, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Barb was born November 28, 1965 in Gothenburg, NE, to Gary D. and Janice (Welch) Jorgenson.

Barb grew up on Rock Island Table north of Gothenburg and attended County Line Country School from kindergarten to 8th grade. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1984 and University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1988. She married William Nelson in 1990 and later divorced in 2001.

Barb lived in Gothenburg most of her life. She was the Director of Head Start in Gothenburg and the surrounding area. Barb was a member of the Gothenburg United Way. She loved to go camping with Chris and Kersten. Barb enjoyed working in her garden with all different kinds of flowers.

Survivors include her son: Christopher Nelson, daughter: Kersten Nelson, parents: Gary and Janice Jorgenson, brothers: Robert (Jill) Jorgenson, Brad (Lisa) Jorgenson all of Gothenburg, Brent (Carie) Jorgenson of Omaha and Bryce (Becky) Jorgenson Potter, NE.

Barb is preceded in death by her Grandparents Marvin and Bernice Jorgenson and Harlan and Velda Welch.
