ARNOLD ANDERSON-NEBRASKA
A memorial service will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Pastor Randy Dilts officiating, on Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. for Arnold Anderson, a resident of the Brady and Gothenburg areas from the 1930s to the 1960s. He died April 23, 2007 in Lincoln at the age of 94.
He was born January 19, 1913, at Loup City to Carl and Elizabeth Swanson Anderson. He graduated from high school in Loup City in 1932. During the Depression he worked on a ranch in Montana, and at various farm and ranch jobs in Nebraska, Colorado, and Minnesota.
In 1938 he married Phyllis Bailey of Arnold. They were married 52 years and had five children. For more than 40 years, the Andersons raised registered Hereford cattle at different locations near Brady, Maywood, Gothenburg, and Elm Creek. In 1988 they were jointly honored by the Nebraska Hereford Association as "Hereford Man of the Year."
In 1971 the Andersons semi-retired and moved to Missouri. They lived in and near Savannah, traveled, and collected antiques. Phyllis died in 1990, after 52 years of marriage. Arnold continued to live in Savannah until he moved into a retirement center in Lincoln in 2005.
Survivors include his children, David and wife Karen of Austin, Tx.; Nancy Fisher and companion George Prince of Gothenburg; Elaine and husband Richard Peters of Lincoln, Ellen and husband William Kent, Sr. of Holbrook, and Walter and wife Darla of Easton, Mo., and 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eight brothers and sisters, and a great-grandson.
Registrar Book will be available for signing 9:00 - 5:00 pm, Thursday and Friday, May 3 & 4, 2007 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Inurnment will be in Gothenburg Cemetery immediately following the memorial service. Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
