Arlo R. Norgaard

Arlo Ray 'John' Norgaard, 78, Maywood, NE passed away on November 22, 2007 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE.

Funeral services for Arlo will be held at United Methodist Church, Maywood, NE at 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 27.

Visitation will be on November 26 at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Burial to follow the service at Maywood Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Maywood Ambulance.

Arlo was born on May 23, 1929 in Norman, NE to John and Nellie (Nielsen) Norgaard. He was baptized in the Norman Lutheran Church. Arlo graduated from Maywood High School in 1946. On June 8, 1952 he was married to Mary Ann Shirley in Cambridge, NE at the Cambridge Methodist Church. After his fathers death in 1947 he took over the family farm where he continued to work until he retired in 1994. Arlo enjoyed going out to the farm and helping his son farm and ranch until his death. Arlo enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including roping, hunting and fishing, bowling, shooting trap, playing cards and pool. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and many friends.

Arlo was preceded in death by his Parents, a sister Norma and brother-in-law Bud Snyder.

Arlo is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Mary Ann of Maywood, NE; three children Vana and her husband Max Hejtmanek of Orleans, NE; Vernon of Maywood, NE; and Vicky and her husband Neil Hendricks of Oconto, NE; nine grandchildren; Amanda (Jeremy) Eubank, Jackie (Matt) Broeker, Danny Hejtmanek, Clinton Norgaard, Melody Norgaard, Jennifer (Jim) Flood, Sarah (Kent) Plonkey, Clayton Hendricks, and Trisha Hendricks; three great-grandchildren; Trey Broeker, Taryn Flood, and Jaycee Flood and numerous nieces and nephews.
