Andrea Olson

Andrea Olson, 67, of Gothenburg, NE, died May 11, 2023 at her home in rural Gothenburg, NE.  

She was born on July 25th, 1955, to her parents Harry and Bertha Pieper in Jordan, MN. 

Andrea was a talented musician who played the flute and Oboe. She graduated from Jordan High School. Her expertise in music was honoured when she received the John Phillips Sousa award during her senior year of high school. Andrea went on to pursue a career in education and received a master's degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls after starting at the University of Minnesota.

Andrea enjoyed watching sports games including Gophers Football and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. She also had an outgoing personality that could draw people out of their shells -- she cherished meeting new individuals especially because she valued family so much.

Andrea is survived by special friend Joe Herndon, of Gothenburg, NE; stepson Greg Olson of Jackson, MN; sister Carol (Chuck) Ormston; brother Ken (Mary) Pieper; brother-in-law Don Hartmann; two sister-in-laws Kathy Pieper and Diane Pieper; nieces, Laura Walker, Jill Hartmann, Jane Strobel, Karie Lipinski, Kris Bonner, Katie Melby, Michelle Syvertson, Heidi Jensen, Alyssa Clay; nephews, Bruce Hartmann, Eric Hartmann and Mark Pieper, Luke Hessing, along with many great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her spouse, Mark Olson, her sister Jeannie, two brothers, Harry Pieper Jr., and Keith Pieper, brother-in-law Terry Menk, nephew, Brian "Tiger" Pieper, and great-niece Ashley Strobel.

Her kind soul will be greatly missed but also fondly remembered by those who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church, Cozad at 11:00 am with Rev. Jill Boyd officiating.

Interment will follow in the Moorefield cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Cozad, Moorefield Cemetery, or Asceracare Hospice.
