Alice Liljestrand

Alice Edna Liljestrand, 91, of North Platte, Nebraska, formally of Gothenburg and Brady died December 5, 2013 at Centennial Park in North Platte, NE.

She was born March 15, 1922 south of Brady , daughter of Albert and Hilma (Hallstrom) Johnson.
Alice attended elementary school at South District #13 and when the family moved she went to Brady High School graduating in May 1939.
She married Vernon Liljestrand on March 14, 1941 in North Platte, NE. To this union two children were born Larry and Marie.

Alice lived in numerous places such as Brady, Maywood, North Platte, a short while in Colorado, and Chicago for a couple of years to take care of children. She lived in Gothenburg from 1979 - 1994.

Alice worked as a homemaker and loved to cook, and a dietian at the hospital.

She was a member of Methodist Church, Brady Extention Club, Lincoln County Voting Election Board, and Lions Club.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Trish) Liljestrand of North Platte, NE; two Grandchildren Lisa (Mark) Mullinax, Adam ( Denise) Liljestrand and five Great grandchildren, Kyle, Connor, Haley, Lily and Alyvia two sisters: Maybelle Krekeler and Ilene Blattner; three brothers: Arnold (Ruth) Johnson, Stan Johnson, George (Dorothy) Johnson.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Liljestrand, daughter Marie Elaine Duis, four sisters: Helen Trusty, Louise Davis, Violet Williams, Amy Johnson, sister-in-law Ethel Johnson, brothers-in-law: Sylvester Trusty, Verlyn Davis, Don Blattner; Harold and Harlan Liljestrand.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, December 9, 2013; 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, December 10, 2013 at 10:30 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gaslin Cemetery, Brady, Nebraska.
