Alice Hays

Alice C. L. (Vogt) Hays, 91, of Gothenburg, died January 19, 2018, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
Alice Cornelia Louise was born on November 22, 1926, at Gothenburg, NE, to Roy and Agnes (Miller)Vogt. She graduated from Gothenburg High School and attended Kearney State College. Alice married George A. Hays at Gothenburg on April 17, 1949, and to this union three daughters were born—Pamela, Colleen, and Cynthia.
Alice lived at Cambridge and kept busy on the family farm. She enjoyed the farm life, canning and preserving produce from her large garden, helping her husband with the fieldwork, and working with her farm animals. She was a member of the extension club and active in the Ladies’ Aid and other church activities at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cambridge. She enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking. Alice loved her family dearly and did many wonderful things for them. After her husband passed away, she moved back to Gothenburg. She had an in-home daycare and cared for many children through the years. She also did much quilting, embroidery, and specialty sewing, which she greatly enjoyed. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.
Alice is survived by her daughters—Pamela Liebbrandt of Culbertson; Colleen (Ted) Bode of Omaha; and Cynthia Peklo of Gothenburg; five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; her brother, Henry (Betty) Vogt, sister-in-law, Doris Vogt; along with many nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers—James and Johnny Vogt, son-in-law Duane, and three sisters-in law, Esther, Virginia, and Donita.
Visitation will be Held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska;Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services wil be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 3:00 pm with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating.
Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or Donor’s Choice.
