Albert Connelly

Albert L. Connelly, 96, of Gothenburg, formerly of Brady, Nebraska, died January 12, 2015 in Cozad, NE.

He was born December 8, 1918 in the hills south of Brady, NE, son of John Franklin "Frank" and Elnora (Nelsen) Connelly.

Albert married Dora Opal Carver on August 10, 1942 at Oberlin, KS.  To this union, two daughters were born - Mary and Geraldine. Albert served his country in the US Army from October 1942 to October 1945, during this time, he spent seven months overseas fighting for his country. He spent four months as a POW. After his discharge, Albert returned to the Brady, NE area and continued a lifetime of farming and ranching. Albert was a member of Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg.

Surviving are daughter, Mary (Craig) Finke of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Jerry (Alan) Ditson of Overton, NE, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Nora Connelly;  brother, Ray (LaVeda) Connelly; and his wife Dora.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, January 14, 2015, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 4-6.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel,Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:30 am with Father Don O'Brien officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gaslin Cemetery, Brady, Nebraska.
