Robert Hosick

Robert Jerald Hosick, 80, of Gothenburg, formerly of Curtis, Nebraska, died October 9th, 2018 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. He was born March 27th, 1938 in Curtis, NE, son of Woodrow and Helen (McLaughlin) Hosick. He was second in a family of four boys and 2 girls.

Robert grew up in Curtis, NE and lived there until his family moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1954.  He married Judith Harding on February 5th, 1960 at Colorado Springs and to this union 4 daughters were born.  They family lived around the Colorado Springs area until 1972 when they decided to get out of the busy city and to a simpler life in Nebraska, they moved to a farm south of Moorefield, NE.  Robert made sure the farm came complete with a horse for Kelli, a piano for Kristi, turkeys for Karen and kittens for Kami.  Lots of living was done on that farm, good times and bad times.  A move was made to Stockville, NE in 1980 and then to Curtis, NE in 2013 when both had retired.

Robert worked for many years in the drywall construction business with his brothers. In later years he worked as a John Deere mechanic, owned Frontier Auto body shop in Curtis and then drove for Prince of the Road transportation to name a few of his occupations.

Robert enjoyed driving, working on and talking about Fords and John Deere tractors. He also was an avid stock car fan and owned and drove several of his own, in later years he was content to watch NASCAR on television. Through the years he also had many special horses and dogs. He loved the Lord and music was very important to him and a comfort to him in his later years. He was very proud of his family and loved them very much.

Surviving are wife, Judy Hosick of Gothenburg; four daughters, Kelli (Wyatt) Barnes of Brady, NE, Kristi Musgrave of Crawford,  TX, Karen (Scott) Walgren, Wauneta, NE, Kami (Richard) Klutz, Mukilteo, WA; 12 Grandchildren; Tyrell (Malloree) Barnes of Gothenburg, NE, Sheena (John) Krohn of Albion, NE, Ethann (Allison) Barnes of Lincoln, NE, Beccah (Dillon) Mortensen of Curtis, NE.  Matthew (Jennifer) Musgrave of McCook, NE, Megan Musgrave of Salt Lake City, UT, Miranda (Micah) Masterson of Omaha, NE.  Michael Gardner of Wauneta, NE, Daniel (Tori) Gardner of Wauneta, NE, Renae (Devin) Watkins of McCook, NE.  Samantha Johnson of Lincoln, NE and Ben Johnson of Lincoln, NE
10 Great Grandchildren; Dallee and Gus Barnes of Gothenburg, Kasey, Annie and Caleb Krohn of Albion,  Wesley, Dexter and Zeke Musgrave of McCook,  Bryce Gardner of Wauneta, Rowen Watkins of McCook.

Robert was preceded in death by father, Woodrow Hosick, mother, Helen Hosick, brother, Dennis Hosick, sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Bill Hawes; son-in-law, Rick Gardner.

Memorial services will be held at Berean Bible Church, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brian Nicklas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Curtis Cemetery, Curtis, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the Curtis Fire & Rescue or the Berean Church.
